The School offers three courses: All three courses use the Film Television Radio Multimedia Training Package CUF07 Entry is through VTAC plus EXTRA REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must ring the Film School on 8387 1511 to obtain an Application Form. If the Application is successful the Film School will contact the Applicant to arrange for an interview where they will present a folio of Film(s) they have Directed and Produced and Script(s) they have written. A pass in Year 12, English (any). The prerequisite studies for Screen Courses are Year 12 Media and /or Studio Arts / Film / Photography and Multi Media is recommended. Students are provided with hands on tuition in Short Film Production on up to 20 films per year, on Red One Camera and High Definition Digital equipment such as the Sony EX3, and Industry standard editing facilities, taking them from the concept to marketing of their films. First Semester involves a one week Location Film Camp at Somers, where every student shoots their own film. This represents world’s best practice. There are Industry links and attachments. These full-time, year long courses are designed to introduce students to professional film video and multimedia production techniques. Students learn by making their own individual films throughout the year. Upon successful completion students should have: • A professional show reel of their work • Professional production skills • Professional contacts Students control all major creative roles, such as writer, director, producer and editor of their films. This course is recommended as entry-level preparation for the VCA Film and TV School and most other University Production Courses. Apart from successfully placing students in these highly competitive courses, our students regularly achieve careers in the film, television and multimedia industries. They have successfully won awards both internationally and Nationally, such as an Emmy for best Cinematography in Documentary section, Best Student Foreign Film in Los Angeles USA, ATOM for best Student Film, National Panasonic for Best Screenplay and Best Film, Encouragement Award at the St.Kilda Film Festival, Best Emerging Film Maker at the Maribyrnong Film Festival plus screenings in film festivals and students also have achieved Australian Film Institute nominations in open competition within the industry. These are Nationally Recognised Training Board accredited courses. Footscray City College is a Registered Private Provider. RTO No: 20306. The School recognises the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another RTO Genres Students may make any form of media including documentaries, music clips, animation and multimedia. They have access to the production complex for 40 weeks. Formats 16MM, Red One, Sony EX3, Sony Z1P HDV Cameras, Materials Charges Materials Charges of $3500.00 are based on the core and elective units undertaken, and should be paid on commencement. A $100.00 discount applies for students who pay upfront at or before the commencement of each course. The breakdown is as follows: $200.00 is for a School Administration Charge. $200.00 is for a refundable Bond if the student doesn’t lose, break or steal equipment. $3100.00 is to cover materials used throughout the course. If a student wishes to shoot on Super 16mm for their major they must meet the additional costs. A schedule of partial payments maybe negotiated under agreed conditions.
