ENROLMENT INFORMATION

MINIMUM TERTIARY ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

There are no prerequisite studies for Certificate IV in Screen and Media however we prefer applicants to be turning at least 18 years old in their first year of study at Footscray City Films.

All applicants both Year 12 and Non Year 12 must apply directly through Footscray City Films. Mature age entry and RPL is available.

All applicants must attend an interview and complete a short Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate their capacity to successfully complete the course(s) applied for.

All applicants must complete the supplementary information form on the Film School website and telephone the Admissions Officer, Tim Spanos on (03) 8387 1511 to receive an application for an interview. Short listed applicants will be contacted by the Film School to arrange an interview where they will be asked to present a folio of script(s) and films.

Interviews will be held during the second half of the year for the next years intake which begins in Feburary.

EXTRA REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to apply directly to Footscray City Films by completing the Supplementary Application Form online plus an Interview.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FORM

Applicants must fill out the Supplementary Information Form online or alternatively telephone 8387 1511 to request a Supplementary Information Form to be mailed to them from August, complete and then return. The form can also be downloaded from the downloads page of the website

Late applicants must contact the Film School to receive a late application kit.

UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER

All applicants must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). From 1 January 2015 the RTO can be prevented from issuing you with a nationally recognised VET qualification or statement of attainment when you complete your course if you do not have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you have not yet obtained a USI you can apply for it directly at http://www.usi.gov.au/create-your-usi/ on a computer or mobile device

INTERVIEW PROCESS

The process for selection is by direct application (Supplementary Application Form) and an interview

Interstate applicants may be able to conduct their interview over skype. Please contact the film school if you wish to arrange a skype interview.

DEFERMENT

Any student wishing to defer their studies must contact the Institution directly by contacting the Admissions Officer: Tim Spanos on (03) 8387 1511 or by email: spanos.timothy.t@edumail.vic.gov.au during the offer period with their name, address, contact email address, contact number, VTAC number and course which they are seeking deferment.

Deferring students must also send a letter requesting a deferment with their name, address, contact email address, contact number and course which they are seeking deferment.

No student can apply for deferment from a course unless they have been made an offer of a place.

Students can only defer for one year, after which they will have to reapply and go through the enrolment procedure again.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also strongly supported at the college with staff at the college being available to assess students’ previously acquired skills for RPL credits.

Students transferring from another Institute will receive credit transfers where the subjects are the same. Students must supply the appropriate documentation from the corresponding Institution at time of Interview.

NON YEAR 12 APPLICANTS

Applicants to Footscray City Films are selected on the basis of their application and interview which may include a previous year 12, TAFE qualification or University study, partial or complete.

Some applicants who have not completed any previous study may be eligible to apply under RPL or special consideration category.
